Hi all
We have strange behavior of MSA P2000 FC - 24disks SAS 900GB
Rcently i upgraded firmware to TS252P001  and all disks to HPD8 (most of them:EG0900FBLSK)

After some troubles with firmware update of disks i decided to stop both storage controllers
after command:
shutdown both
storage controller B was disabled
and i got such info: that controller A is in inapropriate state do be disabled

after show vdisks i got this info: (see attachement)
# show vdisks
Name  Size   Free    Own Pref   RAID   Disks Spr Chk  Status Jobs      Job%      Serial Number  Drive Spin Down        Spin Down Delay       Health     Health Reason  Health Recommendation
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
vd01  17.9TB 985.3GB A   A RAID50 22 1   640k FTOL   VRSC      73%  00c0ff158216000082a2d15500000000 Disabled               0                     OK

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Success: Command completed successfully. (2016-06-17 09:45:46)

...and this VRSC job is in the same 73% progress since 20 hours

after command:
abort scrub vdisk vd01  i got nothing

what can I do i such situation?
Should I simply unplug power cables?

Thanks in advance

Monitoring P2000 devices in the DMZ and SCOM/HP Agentless Management Pack

Hi,

We have HP P2000 storage devices sitting in the DMZ portion of the network. We have SCOM and HP Agentless Management Pack at the internal network.

What options are available to receive SNMP traps from these devices to SCOM in the internal network without enabling connections initiating from the DMZ?

Is there an option for HP DMS or something to poll a server living in the DMZ with the received traps so only a connection fromthe internal net to dmz is allowed (and not the other way around)?

Thank you.

Mirroring/Connecting MSA's on same array

I am working on a project of implementing a new vSphere cluster. I have 3x DL380 G9's and two MSA 1040's. The hosts are connecting to the MSA's with fiber channel cables. Is there a proper way to connect the MSA's so that they mirror each other, or can become part of the same array? (I did not order the hardware - someone else did, and I only have 5x Fiber Channel cables).

MSA 2040 Virtual disk group expansion

Hi,

I am new to using SAN based storage and we currently have some servers using a shared MSA 2040.

Wehn we intially set this up we creeated a RAID10 using 4 x 600GB disks. This was set up as a virtual disk group. I am now wanting to add an additional 2 disks to this RAID10, however it seems I can't. Am i only able to add additional disks to a Linear Disk Group?

If so is there anyway of converting Virtual to Linear? Or is it a case of copying all the data off and creating the Disk Groups from scratch?

Thanks,
James

P4300 G2 Network RAID 10 Question

I have a couple pairs of P4300G2 SANs in my environment that are all set up as network RAID 10 pairs.  One the them experienced a failure a couple weeks back, and I am just getting around to repairing it and bringing it back up now.  Can someone tell me the proper way to bring this up so that it gets added back to the same RAID 10 pair, and the new data from the other system in the cluster gets synched back over to it?  The data on the other SAN in that cluster is very important to a number of our live systems, and I don't want to take any chances.  Losing that data, or having it overwritten by old data on the repaired SAN would be a disaster.  Thanks.

Buenas noches.

Saludos

Where to begin my SAN journey

Hi we are a SMB with 100 users currently using NAS solutions. However with ever increasing file size and usage we are thinking of investing in a SAN. I have not worked with SAN. I have a few servers running 2008 and 2012. Is there a simulator or demo web page where i can play with the settings and see what will suit us. Thank you

CAPI Proxy and VDS Provider - do I need these?

Hello-

Apologies in advance for overly simplistic question.  My company uses a P2000 G3 SAS MSA.  All connections to hosts are provided via SAS cables and no iSCSCI/FC is in use.  In addition, clustering is not in use.  The MSA is simply being used to provide several RAID 10 sets for various applications - Exchange, Hyper-V, etc.  On my Exchange server, I see the CAPI Proxy 2.8.3 and VDS Provider 2.8.3 installed.  Is there any reason I need these components?  I am not using the P2000 for shadow copies, etc.  Thanks

Any ideas?

SAS Mapping MSA 2040 do not appear on VMWare 6.0

Hello,

after adding 8 disks to an MSA 2040 storage, and configured the mapping the new volumes do not appear on VMWare to create the datastores.

The storage is connected to vmware hosts via SAS cables.

Controller A from storage to each hba from the 2 hosts.

I already have 2 disk groups presented to the 2 vmware hosts, from initial config.

This is an upgrade of disks, and i think the config from storage is correct so I'm not understanding why the targets aren't showing up.

Is any way that I can view logs of the scan of new maps?

Can anybody help me?

P2000 MSA problem

$

I have 3 enclosures. 1 and 2 have 12 slots and the third has 25. I have a warning saying enclosure 2 is degraded.. A subcomponent of this component is unhealthy. At the bottom where it lists the subcomponent that is unhealthy, it says component type: disk, component ID 3.20.

This makes no sense. Based on that ID, the warning should mean enclosure 3 disk 20 has the problem. As I mentioned, enclosure 2 only has 12 slots and enclosure 3 has 25. That said, I checked disk 3.20 on enclosure 3 and it shows as helathy. All disks on all enclosures show as healthy in fact.

Any ideas how I might clear that warning or anything else I can do to pin down what is actually going on? I ran the CLI command "clear events". It cleared everything except that warning.

MSA 2040 SAN LED amper no error

Hello,

We have a MSA 2040 with a disk where the right LED indicator(1) is amber end the left LED(2) is off. According to the storage troubleshooting guide it means that the disk is offline.

But when we take a look at the Storage Management Utility the health of the disk is OK.

Thanks for the replay,

Greets Stephan
