hi Community
for replication purpose, I should do a synchronous replication between MSA2040 and 2050 ,unfortunetly my client hasn't the budget to purchase a switch SAN
it's possible to have a direct cabling over FC between MSA2040 and MSA2050
so if not ,could you suggestion me a solution for this replication
please note actually that the two ESXi in cluster are connected to MSA2040 and I should integrate the MSA2050 and replicate a virtual replication as the virtual volume are configured in MSA2040
please your help
Hello Can anyone tell me what operating system run under the MSA1040 "it's means internally"
Thanks in advanced.

Hi HP people and users!
I have a problem with HP MSA2050, giving kernel errors on server about "thin provisioning soft threshold reached". But the "overcommit" is disabled.
The space reported as used by server is under 30%. I raised the Low Threshold limit from 50% to 70% but I got the error again.
The Disk Group has 3TB, No Affinity on Volumes, No performance enhancements.
Thank you.
Hi everyone,
Just trying to set up a cluster with MSA 1050 SAS & H241 HBA in HBA Mode (not RAID) in 2 x DL380 Gen8's with Hyper-V Server 2016 (with all updates) for a test environment.
I read the user guide, best practices and other pages but I am not making much progress. I am using Windows Admin Center (WAC) to configure everything. I have the failover clustering and MPIO services installed on both Hyper-V Servers.
I also have a another DL380 Gen8 with Hyper-V Server 2016 running a local VM with Server 2016 as the DC DNS DHCP Server. Both the cluster servers are joined to the domain as well.
I've tried using Failover Cluster Manager snap-in and Cluster Creation in WAC with these results:
1. Failover Cluster Manager Validation Wizard Snap-In but is failing on the List Disks test.
2. WAC Cluster Creation Preview is failing on network Adapter symmetry validation test.
I have a couple of questions:
1. When mapping volumes to initiators in the MSA storage management utility - do I map all the volumes to all the initiators? Is an initiator one port on one controller or how does that work.
2. When I try to format one or more of logical volumes through WAC, I get a disk is read only error but the disks are set to read-write in the MSA SMU. It seems only one server can access the disks even though I have MPIO and failover clustering installed but other times it works.
The H241 driver version is the latest - 106.26.0.64. Firmware - 7.00
Most of the guides I read relate to using fibre-channel or iSCSI setups so it's a little confusing. I like getting help from the forum, but I can also go through support or try spiceworks if I can't find any answers here.
I just seem to be missing something as I think this should be working with no issues. Let me know if I can provide more info or screenshots or maybe something is not compatible as this may help someone else down the road. It looks like I have some more learning to do as well.
First Edit: Looks like theres a Version 7.00 Firmware for H241 - I'll be trying that first. - Firmware updated now.
Thank you for your time!
Hello,
MSA 1050, DiskGroup(RAID5) name DISKGroupA1 - fault status QTOF
All related disk Healt OK and status OK
I found in log error 590 - A disk group has been quarantined because of flush restore failure.
Thanks
Hello, hoping to find some help here, don't want to screw anything up.
I inherited an MSA1040 with a RAID10 linear pool of 6 disks with a dedicated spare. Connected to this is are 2 virtual hosts running VMWare, currently running very low on storage. I have 5 more disks that were purchased and never installed, and i'd like to add as much additional storage to this pool as possible.
If I attempt to modify the disk group, I can check the "Expand" box, and this is what comes up, and i'm unable to check any of the additional disks unless I choose "additional sub-groups" and can add them as RAID1-4 and 1-5 as shown here.
Is this the proper method to go about expanding this storage, without affecting my current production environment (other than slowing it down temporarily) that's connected to the array? I don't want to expand this improperly and cause a major outage. Any help is appreciated
Hi All,
I have created snapshot from a linear volume as per customer demand.. It's automatically created snap-pool which consumed space from disk-pool.
Finally I have deleted snapshot. But when I try to delete snap-pool , it shown error.
So it needs to convert original volume from master to standard for removing snap-pool.
I have search MSA-2040 document but don't specific solution.
So needs suggestion from expert end.
Hello,
I'm unable to create a new ssd diskgroup, i get the followinf error message :
"a performance tier cannot be added to a virtual pool that contains a read cache"
i have currently 4 diskgroups:
1 dga01 and rca1 in pool A , rca1 is just an SSD drive used in read cache
1 dgb01 and rcb1 in pool B, rcb1 is an SSD drive used in read cache
I installed a tiering licence on the system.
now i want to add a new disk group with 12 SSD drives and i get the error message.
How can i use this 12 new SDD drives in a new volume and leave the other's as they are ?
Thank's
Gérard

Hi All,
We have purchased 2 x DL380 40 core servers both with HPE E208e-P SR dual port 12gbps SAS controllers.
We purchased an Infortrend GSa2024RT SAN with dual 12Gbps SAS controllers.
Currently I've got one server connected to one of the ports on the SAN.
I've created two disks on the SAN and mapped them to the controllers.
When I go into my Server 2019 disk manager screen however I see only 1 disk.
From doing some experimenting, it appears that only drives that are mapped as LUN0 appear on the server.
I'm completely stumped, anyone got any ideas ?
Paul.
Hello,
We recently installed a D2700 Expansion shelf (25 drives @ 600GB) which is attached to our MSA 2040.
When provisioning the storage for the D2700 is it best to spit the disks up per Pool A and B? I find that when pool A is running low on space I am unable to borrow space from pool B, I am assuming this is by design.
The MSA (2040) Head Unit was configured using HP best practice guide for VMware environments, Disk Group 1A and Disk Group 1B.
Now with the expansion attached am I basically going to be creating new Disk groups,...Disk Group 2A and Disk Group 2B and associate with their respective Pools? A/B?
Any help in provisioning the expansion would be greatly appreciated.
I'm hoping someone can just confirm something for me. We have a MSA 2050 with twin controllers and 8 links in iSCSI setup. These are connected to a set of switches then onto a set of VMWare Hosts. For reasons too long to go into I need to disconnect and re run one of the links.
As I understand it this should not distrupt access from the hosts to the MSA's storage although will create a reduction in avalible bandwidth. Is this correct or have I miss understood?
Thanks

How can I to Manually Enable Write Back Cache In MSA 2040
one of the Controller in MSA 2040 write Back Cache Status is Disabled
msa2050 vdisk is configured with raid5
In this situation, when two disks fail at the same time
Is there a way to give up data and construct a new raid?
In this case, either deleting the volume or deleting the vdisk was rejected, nor did you delete matadata on the individual disk.
If you know how, please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
I can't open my msa 2040 via web I tried with different web browser and also when i want connect via usb after type password i face with 'sh: write error: No space left on device, please help me to solve my issue
I have a problem with an MSA2050 which may be self-inflicted but I'm not sure how best to resolve it. This is the error:
I am new to MSA, so may have set it up incorrectly. The MSA is fully populated but the drives that have been created in Windows 2016 Server are not full.
How can I resolve this error?
The pool is set up like this:
Can I simply add a couple of large drives or remove some drives from the pool and restore the backup, or will the storage shrink with the data intact?
Good day everyone so this is my first post here so I hope I’m at the right place for my question.
The reasons why I want to engage myself in the arabic language are actually really boring and unspectacular and maybe they aren't reasons that certify one to learn a new language: The main reasons are: I find the langauge and its script very beautiful, I love arabic music and last but not least I just enjoy learning a new language and to learn about different cultures.
So I started to learn arabic like two weeks ago (so I basically nothing so far) with a Youtube Series teaching Modern Standart Arabic (I will use the abbreviation (MSA) from now on).
But now I heard/read a lot of opinion saying that you shouldn't learn MSA and rather learn a dialect. The main reason as far as I understood it is that in real life nobody speaks in MSA and also most music seems to be in dialect. So while you might be understood if you talk in MSA you will probably have trouble to understand the person if she/he speaks in her/his dialect.
Dear All,
I read a lot of docs on web in the topic, however the more I read the more question I have.
1)In a raid5 or raid6 using more disk than the minimum, the total iops calculated with the total disk number with the parity disk(s) or without those?
2)In a capacity tier pool includes raid1 2xSSD with oips X and raid5 6x10k sas with iops Y. Is the calculated total will be its sum (X+Y)?
3)In case of using read cache (for example 2x800Gb ssd in raid1) what is the general method to guess the read cache usage (%) and how can it summarize with the underlying pool iops capability to get a roughly total?
Thank you very much
