We have a tape library, MSL8096 and MSL4048 which we’ve had for years. The problem I am having, is I need to replace the cleaning tapes, however, the person who setup the library is no longer here, and we do not know the front panel code to get into the library. Is there anyway to reset it, or is there a master code I can get in with?
Hello,
Recently we have purchased failover cluster with two nodes.
2x HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 8SFF
1x HPE MSA 2052 SAS Dual Controller SFF Storage
Network between nodes and storage
2x Aruba 2930F 8G PoE+ 2SFP+ Switch
Every 10-15+ days Node01 restarts itself without me knowing why.
All virtual machines that were currently on that node were not transfered to Node02, they just shutdown.
Node02 works perfectly, no errors, all VM-s located on Note02 are without error.
Node01 - iLO for that period:
Now this is from Event Log from that period:
This is from Failover Cluster Event Log from that period:
Now for this last image I took screenshot only of one error, but here is each error for each VM that was running on Node01 during that time:
After disk failure we replace damaged disk with new one on Enclosure 1. And after that i make him Global spare.
But now i see that i have another Global spare disk on Enclosure 2.
I remember that before all changes it was 1 vDisk spare and 1 Global spare disk.
Can somebody help with how to change Global Spare to vDisk spare?

Hi,
Struggling to clarify, from the MSA product documentation, how the Smart Array HBA cache needs to be configured (i.e. Disabled/Read Only/etc) for shared volumes presented out of a MSA 2050 SAS array?
Simple 3 server setup (2 VMware ESXi 6.7 hosts and 1 Windows 2016 Veeam host) sharing VMFS 6 volumes from the MSA 2050 SAS.
Any help will be appreciated.

I have an HP MSA 2050 storage that is already configured on one host via FC interface and I am using it on Redhat servers with Ext4 partition formatting done on the MSA partitions.
But, as per my new requirements, I need to connect my another server to same HP MSA 2050 in order to access the partitions on both servers simultaneously.
Is it possible to connect a new server (new host) to the MSA 2050 without losing my partitions format & data?
I had read somewhere that adding new host requires re-configuration of LUN & indeed the disk partitions. Just want a confirmation whether is it safe to add new host without losing any partition format & data?
Any help is appreciated.
Hi,
i have MSA P2000 G3, i want to replace 1 disk from the array of 6G DP 15K SAS 600GB(spare 601777-001) with any higher capacity disk.
please advise compatible spare with same speed 15K.
Hi ,
Does anyone know about if MSA 2050 has a storage replication adapter?
Thank you
Hi,
I plan to create 3 volumes on MSA 2050 SAN controller with ESXi 6.7. Jsut have only one disk group. One volume is for OS image, the 2nd is for data, the last one is for file sharing. The connector between MSA and ESXis is FC HBA dual ports. I'm not sute what is the best strategy to create a volume in MSA to meet with my requirement above or other way suggestion, please.
Note: why have to create 3 volumes, I would like to take an easy way or benefit in backup data.
Thanks.
Hi guys,
I'm not sure whether to ask this on an HPE or Microsoft forum. Hope I'll get some help.
I'm virtualizing and clustering two HPE servers, and a MSA SAN. When creating Hyper-V VMs, should I host all VMs on the same volume/LUN, or create a volume for each VM created? The later preferably in case i need to restore a specific VM from a snapshot, or there's something I'm missing.
Hi All, we have an MSA 1040 SAN that hosts are on primisis exchange DB. We purchased a drive the same size (900GB SAS) to add to the SAN to expand that raid 5 array as it is nearly at full capacity. I added the drive to the SAN and allocated it to the exchange v Disk and it showing as available free space; my problem is I am unable to expand the volume. The Expand Volume option under the Tools menu is just greyed out. Can anyone over any assistance with that?
Thanks
I'm triying to interconect storage P2000 and Proliant DL380 gen10, in doccumentation I found "HPE Smart Array P408e-pSR Gen10 Controller" with part number 804405-B21, in the especifications of the 804405-B21 don't explain the compatibility.
Can someone help me with info about the compability between these two devices?
I work in a repair Depot and my company fielded 200 of the MSA 1040 data storage arrays last year, I am not familiar with the unit at all and need to develope a comprehenive testing procedure for units being returned from the field with supposed faults. Any Ideas ? Also I need to return the Unit back to stock with erased drives (not secure erase) just wiped, I was thinking by just rebuilding the array this would accomplish that?
Hallo,
after I replaced a failed disk in the P2000 G3, I'm not able to defined the new disk a spare. Everytime I try to assign the disk a spare (select vdisk use manu Configuration > Manage Dedicated Spares) the procedure finished successfully (Message text: The vdisk spare settings were modified successfully.) and the disk is shown as "Spare".
But a few seconds later, the status if teh disk reverts back to AVAIL.
This is the same if I perform this action with the cli command (set spares disks 2.25 vdisk VDISK_D)
Attached you find the Event Log.
Any suggestions?
I do not see anything wrong.
kind regards Bernd

Just started replication between local & remote site - both MSA2052s
The remote site will be used 80% for DR purposes. Therefore 80% of the space on the remote MSA2052 will be used for repliction volumes.
The volumes are set to 4Tb at the source MSA2052. I have been running the initial sync at the source end but now received
Allocated snapshot space exceeded the configured limit error messages - However replication still seems to be running. At the remote site the settings are.
We have 1 pool with 21.5Tb in size - Free 16.5Tb.
Pool overcommit is set to True
low threshold - 50% Medium Threshold - 75% High Threshold - 99%
allocated pages - 1154195
snapshot pages - 576044
available pages - 3990718
Do I need to modify settings?
Given that I will need to enable replication on another 2 * 4Tb volumes at the source site soon.
Hello. Our shop has over 500 phyical servers. What are the methods we could use to find these SSDs? OneView's reports don't seem to help. iLO shows the model numbers, so is there a script to poll our servers for the affected disks? Are some other ways?
Thanks,
Dan
