P2000 G3 SAS problem with a FRU Event A9060 Event Code 8
Good morning friends
A few days ago, a disk presented a problem, and RAID 6 was degraded. I made a purchase for another new disk, HP stamp and then inserted it for RAID was rebuilt.
When I came back to see the result, I came across the still degraded RAID and these alerts that are in print.
I searched the forums for the error codes but found nothing like that. I need a lot of support on how to proceed now.
MSA 2040 moving disks between systems
Hi
I understand that it's possible to avoid replicating large amounts of data over a WAN link between to MSA 2040s by completing a 'local replication' and then physically moving the disks between the primary and secondary arrays? If this is possible is there any technotes or videos on how to complete this procedure?
many thanks

MSA 2040 latency on raid 10
Hello
we have mSA2040.
We have 2 volume, 1 on raid 5 for data and low VM and other volume on raid 10 (10 disk of 900gb 10k) for 4 VM database server.
we have some IO lantency., my veeam one report me latency each 15min... and user complain for some application latency...
My Hyperv host are connected with HBA card on the MSA. 4 wires per hba
I/O on MSA 2050 SAN
Hi,
We have performance issues with our setup: MSA 2050, 24 x HDD Ultrastar
He10 (MDL).
To analyze th e problem we have created 1 Virt Volume on top of 4x RAID-1 raid
groups. (on same controller).
This Virt Volume is exported to Server via FC-16Gbps directly (without FCswitch).
This Vir t Volume is the only Volume managed by controller (Controller B).
Host OS: Debian 9.3
Host sees LUN, but is not used at all.
From Web Storage Management Utili ty we see IO activity on that Raid-Groups.
On another controller (Controller A), we have 1 Virt Volume on top of 1 Raid-
Group (RAID-6) with 16 HDD. This Virt Volume is used by another server with
low usage (Constant WRite ~30MBps, randome small Read's).
What is very strange is spikes of I/O - plesae see attached image.
Can you recomend something for better performence?
Thank you in advance
Victor
Enclosure for a small server (MSA2XXX or D2600) ?
Hello,
I apologize for my limited english.
I own two MSA60 enclosure, containing mainly 3TB or larger SATA 3.5" Disks.
I'm looking for second hand newer enclosures. I looked for comparison between the MSA2XXX and D2600 with Google without success.
I will greatly appreciate any hint that can help me making the better choice.
Server: DL580 G7, DL385 G7.
Software: VMWare 6.0, Opensuse
Whole storage capacity: around 10T
Usage: mainly domestic, and small business

using an MSA 2040 as a back-end for cinder volumes in an openstack environment
hi all,
has anyone used the MSA 2040 as a storage back-end for cinder volumes in openstack?
If so I would so appreciate some advice and direction!
The value-add of using cinder volumes is the fact that the MSA can be used as shared storage between nodes without a shared filesystem. Pretty much what this gentlemen states:
"I was confused at the way cinder handled volumes. I though If I had a san connected via fiber channel to multiple compute nodes, that a shared filesystem needed to be used to avoid conflicts. What I didn't realize is that cinder creates a volume (lun on the san), and then mounts that to the compute node via the fiber channel san connections. Each volume that gets created is mapped to one instance only. If you migrate an instance, cinder just unmounts that volume from one instance (vm), and mounts it to the new host that holds that vm. So, GFS isn't needed. You just use the appropriate driver supported by the san (iscsi, Dell driver, etc) and dont put a filesystem on it. Cinder takes care of the volume creation and mapping to the instance."

Im thinking one of thesetwo guides are what I need to follow
1. https://docs.openstack.org/newton/config-reference/block-storage/drivers/hp-msa-driver.html
2. https://docs.openstack.org/cinder/latest/admin/blockstorage-multi-backend.html
I will need to add this to the current cinder back-end that is already handling other volumes in the environment, so I will have to implement this in a multi-backend cinder configuration.
The first guide seems to be really the right thing, but do I have to give openstack the management access to the MSA? Can I use LVMs and the lvm driver discribed in the second guide ?
any dirction would be great! thanks
HDD with status Avail, cannot add to spare
Hi All,
I have a MSA P2000. I have the problem when I want to add a new hard drive to the Global spare. When I set through the web gui, had the status of a hard drive into a Global Spare. but there is not a minute, the hard drive returns the Avail status. I also tried adding it to a dedicated spare, but the result is the same. I have also tried via CLI, the result is same as well. Is there a system or hardware malfunction here?
I attach an error log.
Thanks you

MSA 2052 SAS Expansion port 6Gb
Hi,
I have MSA 2052 (2050 with 2x SAS MU 800GB SSD and activated Advanced Performance Data Services license) with 22x SAS MU 400GB SSD 12Gb/s, connected to another MSA 2050 with 22x SAS DS 400GB SSD 12Gb/s through 6Gb/s SAS expansion port (0.5 mini-SAS to mini-SAS cable). Connected to the switch through 16Gb FC.
Q. Will the SSD operate at 12Gb/s or it will drop to 6Gb/s, becuase of the expansion port? And is there an MSA 2052 with 12Gb/s SAS expansion port?
TIA

MSA 70 - diagnostics and firmware upgrade
Hi
I have MSA 70 - it is attached to P600. Where do I find diagnostics and firmware upgrade?
All the firmware upgrade that I found does NOT apply to P600 attached MSA.
Also is there a way to power cycle the MSA remotely? It seems there isn't a specific MSA management utility and the only way is to physically push the power button on the MSA which I can not.
Thanks

Replacement of MSA P2000 G3 Hp storage HDD
Dear
I am facing a 2 SATA HDD failure out of 24 HDD (RAID 5 configured). No spare disks is currently configerd ( NO dedicated, No global or dynamic).
will a reconstruction can be done by only pull out the faulty disk and put the new disk? or a configuration need to be done to make the new disks readable again ?
MSA 2040 Log shows that disk needs to be replaced, but Disk Info says its OK
Title says it all. What should I do in this scenario? See added screenshots.
MSA 2040
Currently having the storage MSA 2040 with 10 disks (5 disks for A and 5 disks for B) configured on RAID 6. I recently bought 10 more disks to expand the storage. Anyone with a step by step solution that wont delete the already stored data. the disks are of the same specs. I'm new on the HP storage.
